   GENERAL QUESTIONS

How do I book?

You can book online via this website, go to the particular page of accommodation you are interested in booking, scroll down and you’ll find the check availability and book button, click on this and it will take you to the calendar availability page where you can choose dates and book.

Alternatively, please do email us at info@leewickfarm.co.uk with your request. You cannot book touring pitches or camping pitches on line and should email us in the first instance.

Can you hold booking dates while I arrange with family / friends?

Only if you specifically request us to hold the dates (we will not do so otherwise) and then only for up to 48 hours, where by the dates will be released, unless you tell us you would like to go ahead with booking.

How do I pay for my booking? Security / Damage deposits

Booking Payments:

We request a deposit of 15% for all glamping and touring bookings at the time of booking and 25% for cottage bookings. The balance payment is required 28 days before arrival. If you are booking within the next 28 days, payment in full will be required at the time of booking.

Security / damages deposits:

For all bookings a pre-authorisation hold is placed against the card used to make payment for the booking for the refundable security/damage deposit.  If this card is declined for any reason, we will contact you to take alternative details.

If any breakages or damage has occurred during your stay, please kindly inform us as soon as possible, you may be charged for damages or additional cleaning that may be required. If we receive noise or anti-social behaviour complaints you may lose some or all of the pre-authorised amount and may be asked to leave.

The amount held for each property and when it is held/released is detailed in the terms & conditions of booking.

What should I do if I need to cancel or move my booking?

In the first instance please email us with your full name and booking number. We need all cancellations in writing. If your booking falls within 28 days before arrival it will be deemed a cancellation and we cannot move your booking.  Outside of the 28 day period, we can offer to move your booking to another date for a £10 administration charge, or you can cancel the booking. On cancelling, if you have only paid the deposit you would lose this entirely. If you have paid the full balance and we manage to re-sell your booking you would receive the balance back less the deposit. If we cannot re-sell your booking you would lose the whole amount. We strongly advise that you take out travel insurance in case of needing to cancel, Covid is now an insurable risk.

Will I be greeted by a member of staff on arrival?

Not unless you specifically request this and we have someone on hand. We have found most guests prefer the simplicity of the check in free arrangements we offer, allowing guests to get on with their stay as soon as they arrive. It is therefore important to make sure you have the booking confirmation email with you that you will have received after your final balance payment, this details how to access your accommodation. We advise to print this out and bring it with you as you may not be able to access it on your phone. If for any reason you have not received this do email / call or text us before you leave home.

Do I need to check in / out? What time is check in and check out?

No need to check in, just make sure you have the confirmation email (detailed above) printed out and with you, as this details how to access your accommodation. You can arrive any time after 3.30pm for both glamping and cottages guests. Just head straight to where you are staying and read the details on the email. Departure is by 10.30am for both glamping and cottage bookings.

Arrival is from 1pm and departure is by midday for camping and touring bookings.

Unfortunately not, the horses in the paddocks at the farm are owned privately and live in our livery yard. There are a couple of riding schools close by, do email us for more information.

We sell large bags of kiln dried logs (prices can be found when booking, (or of course you can provide your own) for the fire pits, one bag should be good for one – two nights for a couple of hours each night. If you wish to sit by the fire pit for longer we would recommend a bag per night. If you would like to purchase logs from us you can add these to the booking form. These need to be pre-booked and pre-paid before arrival. You cannot buy them on arrival as we may not have enough in stock.  Logs for the hot tubs are included in the price and must be supplied by us.
We also sell BBQ lighting packs for additional cost, a 2kg bag of charcoal, firelighters and some matches. Do pre-order and pre-pay for these before arrival. If you forget and no one is on site you can buy some in the NISA shop on Point Clear Road (turn left out of Lee Wick Lane and then it’s 400m on the left-hand side) or at the NISA shop in the village (straight across at the crossroads).

Which accommodation is family friendly?

Both cottages, our three MegaPods, both CargoPods, our Lushna Mezzanine, 8 Lushna Petites, touring paddock and camping area are all family friendly. The Pods / Lushnas sleep up to two adults and two children per Pod, you may fit an infant in for families of five.

Yes, 3 of our Lushna Suite Cabins (no’s 10, 11 and 12) and our 3 Armadillas are for just 2 adults per unit.   The cottages can be booked for adult only groups too.   Both CargoPods are set in their own private area, and work for either two adults only or two adults and two children. The MegaPods are available for two adults only per Pod, but are also family friendly for two adults and two children.  There are three MegaPods in one paddock, spaced out well with willow hurdles in between for privacy.  The remaining 9 Lushna Suites and Petite Cabins, can also be booked for just 2 adults per unit, though they are family friendly too. If you want to book for three or four adults, you will need two units.

Which types of accommodation have hot tubs?

Large hot tubs: both CargoPods have four-person log fired hot tubs. Stable Cottage has a private four – five person log fired hot tub and Lushna Mezzanine no 1 has a private four person log fired hot tub.

Smaller hot tubs:The Lushna Petites (numbered 2-9), the Lushna Suites (numbers 10, 11 and 12), our three Armadillas and three MegaPods each have a two-person log fired hot tub.

Please note there are no covers over the hot tubs, which makes them great for star gazing. Should it rain, you can always sit in the tub under an umbrella (do bring your own), which is actually really nice.

The hot tubs are optional to book and available for additional cost. We supply bags of kiln dried logs included in the price. We do not light and heat the hot tubs for you. This is your responsibility and all part of the glamping experience.

How do I book a hot tub?

To book a hot tub, you can add this at the time of booking online. The hot tubs are an additional cost and the price includes bags of kiln dried logs for guests to light and heat them. Alternatively you can email us to add a hot tub after you have booked. Our email address is info@leewickfarm.co.uk  Please note, The Cart Lodge is the only property which does not have a hot tub.

There are some documents that you need to read if you book a hot tub, which will be emailed to you, these are ‘Hot Tub Health and Safety’ and ‘How to Use the Log Fired Hot Tub’ these form part of our terms and conditions and it will be deemed that you have read and understood them if you book a hot tub.

Are any of the properties suitable for those with limited mobility?

Both of our cottages are suitable for guests with limited mobility. Stable Cottage is all on one level and The Cart Lodge has a slope to the front door and the downstairs bedroom has an en-suite, suitable for those with limited mobility.  Both are rated for Mobility Level 2 (M2).  The Green CargoPod has a ramp to access it and is then on one level, aside from a small step into the shower room.

Where is the nearest pub?

In St Osyth (right out of Lee Wick Lane, follow the road past the boatyard, the Priory and then straight ahead at the crossroads) you’ll find The Red Lion, this is dog-friendly in the bar area and has a part grass, part courtyard garden to the rear. There is a small car park at the back, or you can walk from the farm in about 20 – 30 mins.  The food is typical home cooked pub grub. If you turn left at the cross roads, you’ll find The Kings Arms (car park at the rear). This pub does good food but is not dog friendly. Do call and book if wishing to eat.

Where is the nearest shop?

During the day until early evening, the NiSA shop (left out of Lee Wick Lane, then 400m on the left) is pretty well stocked for anything you may have forgotten. There is a larger NiSA in the village, straight across the crossroads on the right-hand side, this is open later. There is also a chemist in the village too. Further afield there are supermarkets such as Tesco, Morrisons and Sainsburys in Clacton which is a 10-15 minute drive away.

Can we order a food shop to be delivered to the cottages?

Yes, that’s fine, we just ask that you are at the cottage to receive it after 3pm on the day of arrival. Please don’t order a delivery before this time as you won’t be able to access the cottage before 3pm and there may be no one on site to accept it for you.

Can you recommend any good local restaurants/attractions?

Yes, we can try! Do email us if you have any particular requirements and we will try our best to advise.

Where is the nearest beach?

There is a lovely sand and pebble spit, a walk further down Lee Wick Lane, this is found through the nature reserve and is generally nice and peaceful. Dogs need to be on leads through the nature reserve but can run free on the beach. Do check tide times as the car park area can flood during particularly high tides.
There are miles of coastline from St Osyth, through Clacton on Sea to Walton on the Naze. Holland – on – Sea is lovely, as is Frinton on Sea. Dogs are only allowed on some beaches from May-end of September, so do look out for the signs on the prom. Both Clacton and Walton have piers to keep the younger ones or young at heart amused.

Do you offer fishing?

Yes, off-site at the farm’s two reservoirs, about 10 minutes drive away. There is a charge per person wishing to fish. You will need to have a rod licence (you can buy this online) and bring your own rods, etc. It’s a picturesque location and both lakes hold Carp, Tench, Bream, Roach, Rudd, eels and some specimen Perch have been reported. If you book online you can add fishing to your booking, or email us for more information.

Are there any animals on the farm?

Unfortunately not, the farm’s main business is potatoes. You will see our pet dogs about at the farm and the resident ducks Tom and Barbara waddling about by the pods and cottages. There are two livery yards by the cottages and privately owned horses and ponies graze in the surrounding paddocks or are often schooled in the ménage. We kindly ask you don’t enter the horse paddocks or ménage at any time, or pet or feed the horses, but do relax watching them graze and play in the paddocks. Please keep dogs on leads at all times around the farm and horses.

Do you sell gift vouchers?

Yes, we do. You can purchase one for any amount and choose the start date, they are then valid for 12 months. To purchase a voucher, email info@leewickfarm with the value you would like to spend, the start date, the names of the recipient/s, if it’s for a particular occasion (wedding, birthday, Christmas) and finally the name and address you would like it posted to. We will send you a Paypal invoice and when payment has been received we will post your voucher to you.

   QUESTIONS ABOUT GLAMPING

What is Glamping?

Glamping is a portmanteau of ‘glamorous’ and ‘camping’. It’s perfect for those that love nature and camping but want a few more home comforts, or those that dislike camping especially with our changeable British weather and want to be warm and cosy, sleeping in a bed with their own loo and shower.

What should I bring with me if I’m glamping?

We provide a list of things you’ll find in our glamping accommodation when you book. Otherwise, bring your bedding, towels, beach towels, warm clothing (even in summer the evenings may cool down), layers are key when glamping. Warm socks, flip flops, welly boots (for the colder months) and a raincoat, a torch is important, we would recommend a head torch.  Phone charger, games, cooking utensils and cutlery you may need other than what we provide, plus BBQ utensils, matches and charcoal, unless you order a BBQ lighting pack from us. Don’t forget your toiletries and sunscreen.

How do I access my glamping property?

Your final confirmation email will have directions attached and also the code to access the key safe by the door of your accommodation.
Please make sure you print it out and bring it with you. Arrive any time after 3.30pm and put the code into the key safe, press down on the black button, gently pull the metal door to open and retrieve the keys (please leave the property securely locked and the keys here when you leave). Hey presto, that’s it. No need to check in or out. Departure is by 10.30am.

Is there wifi at the glamping Pods?

None of the glamping units have wifi at the moment.

Are there hot tubs for the glamping units?

At Lee Wick site, our CargoPods each have a four person sized log fired hot tub sited on their private decking for an additional cost (prices can be found on the accommodation page). All three MegaPods and each of the three Armadillas have their own two person log fired hot tub set on their private decking, again this is an additional cost. The hot tubs are supplied freshly cleaned and filled with logs, kindling and a fire brick per night booked to light them with. At the Lushna site, Lushna Mezzanine no 1 has a four person log fired hot tub sited on its private decking for an additional cost, Lushna Suites 10, 11 and 12 and all eight of the Lushna Petites (numbered 2 – 9) have private two person log-fired hot tubs for an additional cost (prices can be found on the accommodation page).

Please note there are no covers over the hot tubs, this makes them great for star gazing. Should it rain, you can always sit in the tub under an umbrella (do bring your own), which is actually really nice.

How do I book a hot tub?

To book a hot tub, please book your accommodation online and add the hot tub as an extra, we will then email you two documents that you need to read which form part of our terms and conditions.  Alternately we can add a hot tub for you if you decide you would like to use the hot tub after you have made a booking with us.  The hot tubs cannot be booked on arrival they need to be pre-booked and paid for before you arrive.

What glamping accommodation do you have?

At our Lee Wick site, half way down Lee Wick Lane, we have three Armadillas which sleep up to two adults only, these are not suitable for children, each Armadilla has a private two-person log fired hot tub which are optional to book and at an additional cost.

We also have three MegaPods and two CargoPods, which are great for families, each sleeps either two adults only, or two adults and two children.

All three MegaPods have private two person log fired hot tubs and both CargoPods have private four person hot tubs, these are optional to book and available for an additional cost.

If you have a little one and need to bring a travel cot the CargoPods offer the best space, due to being larger in size. Guests have used travel cots in the MegaPods but you will need to move the table.

We do not supply travel cots or high chairs for the Glamping properties.

Based at the top of the lane, closer to the farm are our twelve Lushna Suites. All have fab views over to the estuary.

Our new Lushna Suites offer great space and comfort, we have 1 Lushna Mezzanine Suite (no 1) for two adults, or two adults and two children, with Mezzanine bed space (plus private four person log fired hot tub, additional cost).

Eight Lushna Petites (numbered 2-9), perfect for two adults only or two adults and two children have floor to ceiling glass windows and a double bed with ladder and platform bed above. Each of these have private two person log fired hot tubs, optional to book for an additional cost.

Finally, we have one Lushna Classic Suite (no 10) and two Lushna Lux Suites (no’s 11 and 12) for two adults only, offering a kingsize bed and floor to ceiling bi-fold doors. Each has a private two person log fired hot tub for an additional cost.

Each Lushna has it’s own kitchen/kitchenette area and a good sized room with loo and shower.

Can I go fishing?

The farm has two fishing lakes off-site a short 10 minutes drive away.

The lakes have a combined surface area of approximately 7 acres and are set in a peaceful secluded part wooded area. Both lakes have individual pegs.
The lakes hold Tench, Carp, Bream, Roach, Rudd and some specimen Perch.
There is a £10 charge per person wishing to fish for a fishing pass which lasts for the duration of your stay. Please make sure you bring your rods, equipment, etc and hold a fishing licence.
